      Dark beasts, just like Abyssal demons, are one of the most iconic and old creatures in the game. This beast is a high level Slayer creature, requiring a whopping level 90 Slayer to kill and drops the iconic dark bow. Dark bow is an age-old PVP weapon for Ranged users and ever since bounty hunter came out they have held on a stable price of around a mil each. This creature also has a superior variant called “night beast.” Which has one of the highest drop rates of the imbued heart. Here are the best locations and ways to hunt down these creatures, complete your slayer task and receive lucrative rewards.

      Locations

      Dark beasts can be found in two locations and both of them are a part of the Elven quest line.

      Iorwerth Dungeon

      This dungeon has a really high barrier to entry, being the quest Song of the Elves. If you have this quest completed this location is the best one to kill Dark beasts at. The reason being is the tertiary drop of crystal shards. Which increases your average value of your loot from dark beasts by 20%. There are a total of 10 dark beast spawns in this area which is more than enough. They are aggressive so you can AFK here with your auto-retaliate on as well. You can reach this dungeon by simply teleporting to Prifddinas via a teleport crystal and running east or by moving your house to Prif and teleporting to your house and running south.

      Mourner Tunnels

      This location is unlocked during the quest “Mourning's end part 2”. There are a total of 19 dark beasts here. This location is significantly worse than the Elven dungeon not only because of the crystal shard drops but because reaching this place is much harder than reaching the Iorwerth dungeon. To reach this location you must make your way to the Mourner HQ in west Ardougne and go to its basem*nt, just like you did in the quest.

      Weakness

      As you can see below, dark beasts are resistant to most styles of combat. Their biggest weakness is stab weapons followed by slash weapons. You shouldn’t waste your time trying to kill these creatures with ranged or magic.

      Best Gear Setups

      The best way to kill these creatures is by using melee. There are two types of gear you can bring depending on how much you want to AFK and how much money you are willing to spend.

      • Helmet: Slayer Helmet(i)

      • Neck: Bonecrusher Necklace

      • Ammo: Holy blessing

      • Cape: Infernal/Fire Cape

      • Body: Sunfire fanatic cuirass/Proselyte hauberk

      • Legs: Sunfire fanatic chausses/Proselyte cuisse

      • Weapon: Osmuten’s fang, Gharazi rapier

      • Shield: Avernic/Dragon defender

      • Boots: Primordial boots/Devout boots

      • Gloves: Ferocious/Barrows gloves

      • Ring: Ring of the gods(i)/Ultor ring/Berserker ring(i)

      • Special attack: Saradomin godsword

      With this setup you will simply turn on your auto-retaliate and pray melee. You can also bring a Saradomin god sword to restore your prayer for free. If you are using the bonecrusher necklace as well, you will not be needing any prayer potions at all.

      • Helmet: Slayer Helmet(i)

      • Neck: Amulet of torture

      • Ammo: Holy blessing

      • Cape: Infernal/Fire Cape

      • Body: Torva platebody/Bandos chestplate

      • Legs: Torva platelegs/Bandos tassets

      • Weapon: Scythe of vitur, Osmuten’s fang, Gharazi rapier

      • Shield: Avernic/Dragon defender

      • Boots: Primordial boots/dragon boots

      • Gloves: Ferocious/Barrows gloves

      • Ring: Ultor/Berserker ring(i)

      • Special attack: Saradomin godsword

      This setup is designed to get through the slayer task as fast as possible. You will be using your prayer potions with this setup.

      • 4-dose divine super combat potion

      • Few prayer potions

      • Rune pouch with high level alchemy runes

      • Herb sack

      • Holy wrench do not bring if you are using the ring of the gods.

      • Seed box

      Best Drops

      These creatures have a superior variant so you should unlock “Bigger and Badder” if possible before this task.

      • Imbued heart: 119M - 1/256 drop rate (Only from night beasts)

      • Eternal gem: 12.4M - 1/256 drop rate (Only from night beasts)

      • Dark bow: 1M - 1/512 drop rate

      • Rune chainbody: 29K - 1/128 drop rate
